On January 15, Loblaw Companies announced that Galen G. Weston has been named executive chairman of the company. Weston’s previous title was chairman and CEO. With this move, the CEO role becomes vacant.
At the same time, Sarah Davis, who became president in January 2017, will be taking on more responsibilities. Davis will now assume full responsibility for the company’s 13-member management board and will take on the Finance and Human Resources portfolios.
As executive chairman, Weston will retain senior executive oversight of Loblaw's long-term strategy, and will focus more closely on the transformation strategy at parent company George Weston Limited, where he is chairman and CEO.
No other management changes were announced.
