The vaccine rollout at grocery retail pharmacies across Canada continues with the latest being Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaw Company Limited pharmacies that are now delivering COVID-19 vaccines at select locations in Manitoba and in Nova Scotia.
"Pharmacists are among the most trusted healthcare professionals, providing convenient and accessible community-level health services," says Jeff Leger, president of Shoppers Drug Mart. "Across Canada, there are more than 10,000 pharmacies, in rural areas and urban centres. Based on the most recent flu season, it is expected that community pharmacies could vaccinate up to 3 million Canadians each week."
Vaccines are available in Manitoba in 32 Loblaw owned pharmacies, which are using the vaccine by AstraZeneca for Manitobans aged 50-64, which a high-risk condition. Those eligible can find out more on the Shoppers Drug Mart website.
Walmart Canada also administered its first vaccines in Alberta earlier in March.
More retail pharmacies are continuing with their vaccine roll-out across Canada.
