Groupe Robert has announced a $150 million investment towards an automated distribution centre in Verennes, QC, for fresh and frozen foods.
The $150 million investment includes financial contribution of $40 million from the Fonds the solidarité FTQ, and $15 million from the government of Quebec.
The facility will be 150 feet tall and storage capacity for 60,000 pallets, split evenly between fresh and frozen products.
“Groupe Robert is proud to expand its services within the Quebec agri-food market and increase its efficiency thanks to this new ultra-efficient distribution centre designed with the latest and most sustainable technologies,” says Michel Robert, president and chief executive officer of Groupe Robert. “Since 1946, we have worked continuously to offer more to our customers, while continuing to be a family business they trust.”
This facility is in addition to Groupe Robert’s agri-food complexes and aims to meet the demand for refrigerated and frozen goods. This makes Groupe Robert the first third-party logistics company in Quebec with an automated warehouse for fresh and frozen foods.
