On Wednesday, November 9th, the ICE District Loblaws City Market opened its doors to the Edmonton community by hosting a ribbon-cutting to kick off the festivities followed by speaking remarks from the store franchise owner, Stella He, Stu Ballantyne, president & COO, Rogers Place & ICE District, and dignitaries.

Cheque presentations were made with donations of $20,000 to Food Banks Alberta, and $2,000 to Children’s Autism Services of Edmonton. There was also an autograph signing session by Edmonton Oilers alumni, Jason Chimera.

“Whether they’re doing their weekly shop or stocking up before an event at Rogers Place, our community is going to really enjoy this new location and its convenient access to a great selection of delicious products,” said store manager, Stella He. “One of the greatest things to come from this opening is that we have had the chance to make a difference in the Edmonton area and provide employment to about 80 new colleagues across all departments.”

The ICE District Loblaws City Market location supports Children’s Autism Services of Edmonton and has introduced Sensory Nights every Tuesday between 10 am and 12 pm, where the lights are dimmed, and the overall store volume is lowered to create a more welcoming shopping environment. The location has also implemented a loop system for hearing-impaired customers, which utilizes a special wireless signal for those with hearing aids. The location will also support Flip, a local indigenous animal rescue shelter in Alberta.

The ICE District Loblaws City Market is located at 10324 103 AVE NW, Edmonton, Alta.
