The Sobey family has donated 93 hectares along the St. Mary’s River to the Nova Scotia Nature Trust.

The trust describes the donated land as a “spectacular natural gem on the beautiful and ecologically rich” river, reports the Chronicle Herald.

The donation was made by Paul and Mary Sobey. Paul’s parents, David and Faye, have also contributed land and financial support to the trust.

The Sobey family received the trust’s 2018 Conservation Award at its annual gala last week. The donated land will help the trust’s campaign to protect the St. Mary’s River in Nova Scotia’s Guysborough County.
