Walmart-owned e-commerce company Jet.com is the first retailer to sell Blue Apron meal kits online.
Starting next week, New York area shoppers will be able to purchase four meal kits for same-day or next-day delivery, including seared steaks with pasta and popcorn chicken with rice, reports CNBC.
The deal marks the first time Blue Apron has partnered with another major retailer to sell online, and is part of Jet.com’s push to compete with Amazon and Whole Foods by extending its platform and grocery assortment.
Blue Apron has had some trouble lately holding on to subscribers over the long term, and broadening its market reach online is one way to respond to the challenge.
Jet.com has recently been experiencing increased demand for meal kits, its chief customer officer told CNBC.
The meal kit selection will be rotated every six weeks.
