Lactalis Canada had acquired Agropur Cooperative's Canadian yogurt business, Ultima Foods Inc. The deal strengthens Lactalis' position in the Canadian dairy processing sector, giving the company an expanded footprint.
The acquisition includes the Iögo and Iögo Nanö yogout brands, as well as the Olympic yogurt, sour cream and kefir brand, yogurt production facilities in Granby, Que. and Delta, B.C. and a leased distribution centre in Longueuil, Que.
The proposed transaction expands Lactalis Canada's yogurt portfolio of iconic brands that include Astro, siggi's and Stonyfield with the addition of three highly recognizable and popular homegrown yogourt names – Iögo, Iögo Nanö and Olympic.
