Loblaw and Grey Jay Sales & Distribution are bringing support to locally-owned businesses in Ontario through its Ontario Made Program.

Loblaw’s stores including Zehr’s, Your Independent Grocer and Valu-Mart will encourage customers to shop from Ontario-based suppliers, such as Jakeman’s Maple Products, Muskoka Brand Gourmet and Yawdis.

“Our goal in launching the Ontario Made program is to bring both well-established and local brands to consumers through our partnership with Loblaws. The brand is equally invested in supporting local brands, especially during a time where supporting local is so crucial to the survival of these very worthy brands,” says Jordan Ender, vice president operations at Grey Jay Sales & Distribution Ltd. “The support of major grocery retailers and Ontarians as a whole will help our Ontario-based suppliers to move into the post-pandemic era and bolster economic recovery.”

The stores are promoting by increasing visibility and sharing the faces and stories behind the brands.

“Our customers are food lovers and being a food lover is about loving local brands and products,” says Adrian Centea, category director, Loblaws. “This program allows us to support local suppliers, producers, and artisans while continuing to offer our customers amazing food on our shelves.”
