Through its fundraising campaigns held in February in food banners in Quebec and its pharmacy networks, Metro has donated $397,020 to the Canadian Red Cross to support its humanitarian aid efforts in Turkiye and Syria for the affected populations. At the launch of the campaign, METRO announced a donation of $50,000 to the Canadian Red Cross, bringing the total donation to $447,020. The entire donation will be directed to the Earthquake in Türkiye & Syria Appeal to support emergency relief, recovery and resiliency-building activities in the affected areas.

For two weeks in February, Metro and Food Basics stores also participated in the annual Toonies for Tummies campaign. Its Ontario banners raised $1,161,408. One hundred per cent of every $2 donation raised goes directly to the student nutrition program in each store’s community.
