Metro’s plans to replace and expand its distribution centre in Etobicoke, ON, have been endorsed by Etobicoke York community council.
The council voted to endorse city planning recommendations for a zoning bylaw amendment that would allow for a one storey warehouse DC. City council will vote on the recommendation in June.
Toronto.com reports that the new 540,000 square foot facility will include a refrigerated warehouse, a distribution centre and administrative offices, and will provide jobs for 600 employees.
Metro will invest $400 million in the two-phase project. Each phase is expected to take 15 to 18 months.
