The latest analysis by data and analytics company GlobalData puts Nestlé in the number one spot among the world’s top 25 consumer packaged goods companies, with a market cap value of $267.5 B at the end of 2017, up 18.2 % over the previous year.
Nestlé’s rise bumped Procter & Gamble, whose market cap was virtually unchanged at $228.8 B, into second spot. Anheuser-Busch InBev came in third at $226 B.
Most of the top 25 CPG companies registered market-cap growth in 2017. For 19 of them, that growth hit double digits. In terms of revenue, 40 % of the top 25 posted increases, while the rest were largely unchanged.
GlobalData bases its rankings on corporate annual reports as well as market capitalization figures.
