Dominion workers continue strike in Newfoundland and Labrador

Dominion workers in Newfoundland and Labrador are now in week ten of strike action and following the rejection of Loblaw’s most recent offer, the workers have relocated a secondary picket line from the Loblaw Distribution Centre to Weston’s Bakery, after Loblaw Companies was granted an injunction prohibiting the striking workers from picketing at the centre.

Eleven Dominion stores across the province have been closed since late August when 1,400 Dominion workers went on strike to demand better wages and more full-time positions.

Before the store closings in August, the Newfoundland and Labrador Supreme Court had granted the company an injunction that prohibited strikers from blocking entrances and exits to Dominion grocery stores.
