Rachelle Bery is opening its natural health products store in Ontario. The opening marks a first for the Quebec-based retailer, which is part of the Empire Company.
The store will be part of the grand reopening of Sobeys’ St. Catharine, Ont. store, slated to open on January 30.
Sobeys purchased the Rachelle Bery banner in 2005 and since then, has continued to grow the business. It currently has the integrated boutiques in 45 of its IGA Extra stores in Quebec and plans to expand the concept, says Genevieve Dugre, director of operations for Rachelle Bery health food stores and IGA corporate stores at Sobeys.
In addition to the integrated boutiques in the IGA stores in Quebec, there are 11 standalone Rachelle Bery grocery stories that feature produce, meat and cheese.
“It’s a growing banner,” says Dugré. “It makes sense for Sobeys to have a brand like Rachelle-Béry to test
a lot of things. We want Rachelle-Béry to be in the forefront of all the trends and the innovation in food. For example, we have a large offering in Rachelle-Béry’s standalone grocery stores for plant-based products."
