Digital technologies, more brick and mortar, but on a smaller scale, innovative retail business models to counter Amazon, and a renewed focus on the customer experience will shape the retail business of the future, according to a Forbes story "Top Shopping Trends of 2018: Retail Experts Share What to Watch for Next Year."
While many of the big box retailers will dive further into digital integration with the use of more AI tools such as facial and image recognition technologies and robotics to help customize customers' experiences, expect to see people going back to smaller retailers for more personalized experiences.
