Save-On-Foods has opened its seventh store in Calgary.
The opening is part of an aggressive expansion plan that will see Save-On-Foods open 25 to 30 stores in the city.
“Calgary is a very important market for us,” company president Darrell Jones told Troy Media. “We just see Calgary continuing to grow and continuing to prosper. It’s got a customer base that we think is very relevant for our stores and we’re excited to continue to grow in the marketplace and also be able to contribute to the city.”
The new store is located in Calgary’s Huntington Hills neighbourhood. The location offers a full-service in-store pharmacy, A Save-On-Foods Kitchen, which features fresh signature salads, sandwiches and sushi, and a mix and match wing bar with a variety of flavours of fresh chicken wings. It is also integrated with the Save-On-Foods e-commerce offering, which provides at-home delivery or in-store pickup depending on location.
For Save-On-Foods the new store opening represents the second of three openings scheduled to take place this quarter. As previously reported by Grocery Business, Save-On-Foods opened its sixth Calgary store just a few weeks ago, in February. And at the end of April it will open Urban Fare in the city. Other new locations are currently in preparation.
Altogether, Save-On-Foods is providing more than 1000 jobs though its Calgary locations. The company operates more than 150 stores across Western Canada in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
