Second Harvest

Second Harvest, a Canadian food rescue organization, has exceeded a milestone by recovering over 1 million pounds of food from Manitoba and redistributing to schools, non-profits and community programs.

“The food that we rescue is fresh, healthy and high quality but it’s unsold surplus which means it’s in danger of being sent to landfill if someone doesn’t intervene,” says Wendy Erlanger, head of operations for Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the North, Second Harvest.

The company receives donations from several organizations and partners with grocery stores, recently announcing a partnership with Empire.

It is also partnered with Loblaw nationally.
