Acosta executive Shaun McKenna has been named executive director of The Grocery Foundation, effective September 5, 2017.
McKenna replaces Michelle Scott, who announced her retirement earlier this year and will leave the Foundation on October 31.
McKenna currently serves as executive vice-president, Strategic Channels, North America with Acosta. Previous roles included president of Acosta Canada, senior vice-president of Mosaic Sales Solutions, and executive vice-president/partner at CIM. A graduate of the Ivey Business School, McKenna started his career with Coca-Cola.
McKenna brings to the Foundation an in depth knowledge of the grocery industry and its people. He has impressive strategic and managerial skills gained through many years of executive experience, said Anthony Longo, chair of The Grocery Foundation.
“We were thrilled that a person of Shaun’s calibre saw the tremendous opportunity in the position. Michelle has taken us on an exceptional journey in our mission of feeding hungry children and Shaun’s background ensures we are extremely well positioned to build on that base,” Longo said.
“I see this role as an amazing challenge – different from my career to date but also with surprisingly many synergies,” McKenna said. “I am committed and looking forward to building the Foundation because it truly does make a difference in the lives of our greatest resource – our children.”
