T&T Supermarket on August 20, 2021, hosted a grand opening for its new store in the heart of Toronto’s Chinatown neighbourhood and Grocery Business Magazine was there to join in the celebrations. The launch marked an emotional return to business for the T&T family following the closure of its Cherry St. location in 2020.
The new store offers 27,000 sq. ft of shopping space and more than 10,000 products. The first shoppers of the new location lined up around the block as a traditional Chinese Lion Dance moved down the street—in which performers mimic a lion's movements in a lion costume to bring good luck and fortune—with Tina Lee, CEO of T&T Supermarkets, and the new store’s manager Bill Wu.
Customers of the new store also have the option of online ordering for both home delivery and “click and collect.”
Tina Lee, the CEO of T&T Supermarkets, spoke at length to the large crowd of partners, staff, supporters and media gathered in-store just before opening the doors to the public.
