The #Toonies4Tummies community gathered just outside Calgary on March 7 for the final sponsor and retailer school breakfast of the 2023 campaign. Members of Sobeys/Safeway/Empire Inc.’s leadership, store operations and community teams joined this year's campaign sponsors in preparing a full breakfast of hot and cold cereals, eggs, toast, yogurt and fresh fruit for over 500 elementary school children in attendance at a local school in Chestermere, Alberta. 

“There were many smiling faces among our special guests and the children, many of whom rely on healthy breakfasts made available to them in a non-judgmental environment. Besides making the breakfast a success, participants from our community learned about the impact of the donations to the 3,000 schools donations to the campaign helps to fund,” reads a social post from The Grocery Foundation.

Chestermere Rainbow Creek's breakfast program provides students a leadership opportunity as many are involved in menu planning, procurement, feedback, and budgeting the school’s program as well as a community garden.
