UNFI Canada has commenced the process of merging its Pro Organics operations with its grocery capabilities in one distribution centre, creating a new division called UNFI Produce. Pro Organics—a division of UNFI Canada—is a Western Canadian organic produce distribution company that has been serving communities in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, and Northwest Territories since 1990.
UNFI Canada is adding 30,000 square feet to its distribution centre in Richmond, B.C. to accommodate the expanded assortment.
"UNFI Produce will not only streamline our internal operations, but more importantly, it will provide our customers with a wider range of products and services, as well as improved efficiency and customer service,” said Stacey Kravitz, president, UNFI Canada. “We are confident that this merger will greatly benefit our valued customer and supplier partners, and we look forward to continuing to provide them with the highest level of service and satisfaction."
The transition is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2023. The integration process will occur in phases, with minimal impact to the day-to-day operations of customer and supplier partners, according to UNFI.
