After three years of planning, the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance (VIEA) has launched a pilot project to highlight food produced on Vancouver Island. Called ‘Island Good,’ the campaign is operating through in-store signage that draws grocery shoppers’ attention to food products produced and made on Vancouver Island.
So far the campaign, in partnership with grocery stores, has created positive consumer response. Other organizations helping to fund the project are Vancouver Island food producers and distributors such as the BC Salmon Farmers Association, B&C Foods, Hertel Meats, Paradise Island Foods, Portofino European Bakery, Dairyland, and Vancouver Island Farm Products, along with core funding from the Island Coastal Economic Trust and VIEA.
Island Good runs through mid September. Results will be shared at the “State of the Island” Economic Summit in Nanaimo October 24-25.
