Walmart is about to unveil the extensive changes to its web site that were first announced back in October. The changes are part of the company’s push to win online business away from Amazon.com.
The latest changes are more dramatic than the last round of improvements, which were made in 2014, a company spokesperson said.
Marc Lore, head of Walmart’s e-commerce business, said that the new home page will be personalized to customer location, allowing customers to buy products that are trending locally and see which services local stores provide. The website will soon have different layouts for different product categories, which will enable customers to shop differently for products from different categories.
The changes include more colours and type fonts, and more informal photographs. Walmart didn’t say how much the rework cost.
