Sobeys sensory friendly shopping

Sobeys stores across Ontario are adopting twice-a-week “sensory-friendly shopping” hours. To make grocery shopping tolerable for people on the autism spectrum and others who are highly sensitive to noise and light, Sobeys stores across Ontario will dim their lights and reduce sound for a couple of hours twice a week. In addition to lower lighting levels, that means soundless checkout scanners, no piped in music or announcements – and not even the noise of carts being put away by employees.
