Amazon launched more than 20 years ago as an online bookseller and today is competing in so many industries — from food delivery and streaming media to film production — that it’s becoming hard to keep track of them all.

At Fortune’s Brainstorm Tech conference earlier this week, Jeff Wilke, CEO of Amazon’s consumer business, shed some light on the company’s management philosophy and how it keeps its leaders and managers focused while running multiple businesses.
