First job in the biz? Zehrs Markets in Waterloo, as a 17-year-old student, working part time.

Who or what has inspired you? Grant Heimpel, the president of Zehrs Markets. His thoughts on what is most important in this industry: customers, stores, value first.

How would you describe yourself? Humble, passionate, never satisfied, hating status quo, transparent, a team player with high expectation of teammates and myself, with a good sense of humour.

Best advice you’ve ever received? “Suspend disbelief,” one of my favourite John Lederer quotes.

How do you define success? Being respected by the team I work with, helping others achieve growth in their careers, and having young leaders trust me to mentor them.

Favourite meal? A medium-rare rib steak, Greek spiced jasmine rice, local asparagus, a fresh salad full of assorted vegetables, key lime pie, and a red California Cab.

Favourite business book? The Tipping Point, by Malcolm Gladwell.

What’s on your music playlist? Many people are shocked by the playlist I use in the gym – very heavy; I Prevail a favourite. My favourite band is Queen; I saw Freddie Mercury live twice.

If you could join a musician on stage to sing with, who would it be? Freddie Mercury, as embarrassing as that would be.

Favourite podcast? Joe Rogan, so many good guests.

Favourite TV show? Seinfeld.

Celebrities you have met? Vince Vaughn.

Car or SUV? Wagoneer, love it.

Pet peeve? Waiting in lines for things that should be more automated – hotel check-ins, car rentals, airport check-ins.

Favourite saying? “Next year,” referring to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

What would people be surprised to know about you? The music I listen to and the volume.
