Where did you grow up? Sudbury, Ont. First job in the biz? The Meat & Deli department at Miracle Food Mart in Sudbury. Who has inspired you? My Dad is my inspiration. He adopted our family of five kids and truly gave us the best opportunity in life. He is my hero. How would you describe yourself? Honest, trusting, more sensitive than people realize, and incredibly passionate about retail. Best advice you’ve ever received? It is not what happens to you, it is what you do about it. Favourite sport/team? Toronto Maple Leafs – please break the cycle! Favourite books? Little Women by Louisa May Alcott; Educated by Tara Westover; My Life in Full: Work, Family & Our Future by Indra Nooyi. All great reads for different reasons. Favourite vacation destination? Las Vegas – not for the gambling, for the entertainment! Favourite TV shows or movies? “Yellowstone” is a clear winner, with a second being “The Undoing,” and a close third is “Nine Perfect Strangers.” Celebrities you have met? Jessica Alba at a business meeting, and Meghan Trainor at a concert with my daughter. I was equally nervous for both! Things to do on your bucket list? Travel to Amalfi Coast in Italy. Pet peeve? People that can’t move on once decisions are made. Favourite saying? I don’t have regrets; life is too short. You have to think about the positives and move forward. Unusual thing that has happened to you? Delivered a 2 lb. baby girl. What would people be surprised to know about you? I was a school teacher and gave it all up for a six-month contract at NGR (Loblaw Companies). The rest is history!
