Where did you grow up? Gaspé Peninsula, Que. First job in the biz? I started in grocery in 1991 with IGA as a financial analyst while finishing my university degree. I took the position to cover a maternity leave and developed a passion for the food retail business. I have worked across many different sides of our industry, and I’ve led Sobeys-related businesses. Today, I run our national operations team, encompassing full-service, discount and e-commerce food retail businesses. What inspires you? People. They are the driver behind everything we do. How do you define success? In my work, it is defined by growth, strength and diversity of our team and the environment we build together. Hobbies? I am a long-time swimmer. I even coached competitive swimming for several years. More recently I have started playing tennis, which is a sport I share with my son. In swimming and tennis, I love the mental aspect, being strategic, making quick decisions and staying self-motivated to keep yourself in a winning headspace. Favourite vacation destination? Amalfi coast. Favourite charity? Sobeys Inc. and our IGA dealer network in Quebec have been long-time supporters of the Foundation Charles-Bruneau. I am also privileged to serve on their board. The important work they do in supporting children affected by cancer and their families is incredible. Things to do on your bucket list? Go to Wimbledon. Pet peeve? I am always frustrated when people think they need to agree with me; I find so much value in being challenged by those around me. All good business decisions are built by many viewpoints. Favourite sayings? “Success is driven by people” and “Strength is in diversity.” The only path to success is by leveraging the strengths of many different perspectives. What would people be surprised to know about you? I can be an outdoorsman, especially when I am at our cottage. I can often be found happily chopping wood and spending time in nature.
