Errol Cerit
Where did you grow up? I grew up living in four different countries and came back to Canada permanently in my early teens. First job in the biz? First job in the industry was with Loblaw Companies Ltd; however, my first job out of school was with Bombardier Aerospace as an engineer. What inspires you? Strategizing with smart and driven people who are passionate about what they do. I work with executives in CPG and grocery retail who inspire, motivate, and challenge me every day. Best advice you’ve ever received? Replace “why is this happening to me?” with “what is this trying to teach me?” and everything will shift. How would you describe yourself? I am an optimist and a positive person. I tend to smile a lot and am often told I have a good sense of humour. I have a passion for empowering and developing people, and genuinely enjoy meeting new people and developing trusted relationships. How do you define success? Living the life that I want to live, being happy and fulfilled personally and professionally. Life is too short to not live it your way with the people you love. Pet peeve? People who don’t put people first. Favourite business books? It’s Your Ship, Good to Great, and The One Minute Manager series. Hobbies? Playing music/writing songs and shopping with my twin daughters. Celebrities you have met? Tony Bennett, Paco De Lucia, and Jim Slomka. Favourite saying? “What problem are we trying to solve?” What would people be surprised to know about you? I started playing music at the age of eight, attending an arts academy and the Royal Conservatory of Music, playing the piano. I have also been performing professionally since I was 14 years old, with amazing musicians from around the world. Your dream life or retirement? Own a social establishment/restaurant in a coastal Mediterranean town, playing music and welcoming tourists from around the world.
