Where did you grow up? Scarborough, Ont. First job in the biz? An HMR, seafood, deli clerk at Cederbrae Loblaws. What inspires you? The power of the human spirit, our ability to overcome adversity, to innovate, to think of the “impossible” and to be empathetic with one another. How would you describe yourself? A kid in a grown man’s body. I like to have fun and not take myself too seriously. An empathetic individual who is competitive and finds great joy in the simple things in life: good food and surrounding myself with good people. Best advice you’ve ever received? Stay humble; remember where you came from and what you are about. How do you define success? In my work life and personal life, success to me is how happy I am. Favourite meal? Curry goat, with Buss up Shut (Roti), and stewed pumpkin. Favourite sports team? I don’t have one favourite. Soccer: TFC, Manchester United; Baseball: Toronto Blue Jays; Football: Buffalo Bills, Toronto Argos, and Notre Dame; Hockey: Toronto Maple Leafs; Basketball: Toronto Raptors Favourite grocery item? PC Black Label Salted Caramel Ice Cream. Hobbies? I love food, so exploring new culinary experiences, cooking and, of course, a whole lot of eating; and sports, whether it is playing, watching or reading about it. If you could have dinner with one person (dead or alive), who would it be? Mahatma Gandhi. His courage, bravery, and absolute devotion to making a better world for himself and others was inspiring. Favourite vacation destination? Trinidad, especially for Carnival. What’s on your music playlist? Soca, Hip Hop and Reggae. If you could join a musician on stage to sing or play an instrument, what would it be? Saxophone – Tenor. Favourite tv show? Tied between “The Wire” and “Succession.” Things to do on your bucket list? Watch Michigan play Ohio at The Big House; attend a FIFA World Cup game. What would people be surprised to know about you? I’m a part-time beekeeper and have two beehives. I also have five laying hens.
