BREAKING: Metro’s Carmen Fortino and Kruger’s Michel Manseau named 2022 Golden Pencil winners

Carmen Fortino, executive vice president, Ontario division head and national supply chain at Metro Inc., and Michel Manseau, senior vice president and general manager of the Canadian consumer unit at Kruger Products, are the 2022 Golden Pencil Award recipients.

The Golden Pencil Award, presented by the Food Industry Association of Canada, was formed in 1957 and recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the betterment of the Canadian food industry.

Carmen Fortino has more than 48 years of experience in the grocery industry. Recognized as one of The Globe & Mail’s Report on Business Magazine top executives for 2022, and recipient of numerous awards, including the prestigious Italian Chamber of Commerce Canada Pentola d’Oro Award, Fortino is also actively involved in community-based charitable initiatives including the United Way, Kids Help Phone, and Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer.

Michel Manceau has been with Kruger Products for more than 33 years. He has held several executive roles in the company and has been actively in involved in company and industry initiatives to support local communities. In 2019, Manseau received the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers (CFIG) Life Member Award in the Industry Builder category. He also sits on the CFIG Associate Members’ Council.
