Garry Senecal, a former executive with Loblaw Companies, has taken on an interim role as CEO of Rona Inc. He replaces Tony Cioffi, who was president of the company.
Cioffi served as president for 14 months before he left the role. Senecal worked at Loblaw for more than 12 years, serving as president of Loblaw's Market Division and chief customer officer, a role he held from 2018 until 2020 when he left the company. He will be based out of the company's head office in Boucherville, Que. Sencal will work with Rona's management committee until a permanent replacement is found.
The leadership change comes a few months after Rona's U.S. owner Lowes sold its Canadian retail business operations to U.S. investment fund Sycamore partners.
