André Gagné, vice president, fresh merchandising, plans to retire at the end of Metro's fiscal year after 19 years with the company. Mike Rose, currently director, category management, conventional merchandising, will succeed Gagné as of September 19, 2022.

Gagné joined Metro in 2003 as vice president and general manager, Loeb Canada Inc., bringing 30 years of food retail experience, which was largely spent within operations and merchandising. In 2006, he became vice president, conventional merchandising, A&P Canada, and in 2010, he moved into his current role. Giving back to the community and the industry has always been important to him, serving on the board of The Grocery Foundation for over nine years and sat as chair, from 2012 to 2015.

Rose brings almost 25 years of experience to the role. He started his career with A&P Canada in 1999 as a part-time grocery clerk in Brampton. In 2002, he was appointed assistant store manager before being promoted to the position of assistant category manager with the Food Basics merchandising team in 2007 and to the position of category manager in 2008. He was promoted to the position of senior category manager, Metro in 2016 and to his current director position in 2017.
