Paul Del Duca, senior vice president, fresh at Walmart Canada, has retired after a 45-year career in the grocery industry.

Del Duca joined Walmart Canada in 2014 to lead and develop the Fresh Foods business. Previously he held the position of general manager at Sobeys Ontario, overseeing the Sobeys, Urban Fresh and Foodland businesses.

“After hitting the age milestone of 60 years young, I am honoured and humbled to have had the opportunities to serve the industry in such capacities over the years,” Del Duca said.

Del Duca has served as a member of the board of directors of Electronic Commerce Council for Canada (ECCNET), United Grocers Inc., Grocery Industry Foundation…Together (G.I.F.T.) and the Canadian Council of Grocery Distributors.

Anthony Morello, president of Aurora Importing and Distributing, has known Del Duca for close to 40 years and both were part of A&P in the early 1990s.

“He is one of the most gifted leaders I have ever had the opportunity to work with and for. Paul has earned an incredible reputation for getting things done thanks to his leadership skills, his business savvy, his tenacity and endless industry relationships.

When I think of Paul, I think of loyalty, respect, integrity, brilliance, simplicity, humble, proud, cars and of being an outstanding human being. He is a very close friend, like the brother I never had, and I consider him as one of the greatest people I’ve met. He leaves a tremendous legacy within our industry.”
