Provigo partners on in-store pilot to reduce packaging

Provigo is launching a pilot project to reduce packaging in ten of its Quebec stores. The chain is partnering with Quebec-based Llenar to install ECOBORNE refill stations for bulk cleaning products.

Llenar recently wowed investors on the TV show Dans l’œil du dragon, Quebec’s answer to Dragon’s Den. ECOBORNE refill stations offer a safe, cost-effective and environmentally friendly option for the purchase of cleaning products in bulk, free from single-use packaging. As part of this pilot project, Provigo has installed the refill stations in the following Provigo stores: Boucherville, Saint-Lin-Laurentides, Varennes, Lévis, Charlesbourg, Saint-Lambert, Hull, Aylmer, Saint-Sauveur and in the Anjou area of Montréal.

“The consequences of plastic waste are a growing concern for both our company and our customers. This partnership with the Llenar Group allows us to put this new concept to the test with our customers. So far, we’re delighted with the positive response from customers, who appreciate having this eco-friendly option at their Provigo store as it allows them to do their part for the environment and save at the same time,” says Maxime Poulin, project lead, Quebec business development for Provigo.

In addition, to help reduce single-use plastics, this initiative will help customers who have the environment at heart save up to 20 per cent yearly on the cost of cleaning products.
