Following on the heels of announcement on August 19 that Shoppers Drug Mart stores in Alberta would be providing asymptomatic testing for COVID-19, the chain may soon be offering COVID-19 testing in Ontario.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford confirmed on August 24 that he has been in discussion with Galen Weston, executive chairman of Shopper Drug Mart’s parent company Loblaw Companies Limited.
“We’ve been discussing this for a little while now and we’ve reached out to Shoppers Drug Mart, the CEO of Loblaws that owns Shoppers as well, and they’re being very cooperative so I might as well come out and say it,” said Ford during the August 24 press conference.
