Somersby Farmers’ Market has set up a “click and collect” farmer’s market in Toronto’s Liberty Village that allows consumers to pick up fresh, local produce through an online pay-what-you-can platform.
Upon pick-up, consumers of legal drinking age will be offered a complimentary sample pack of Somersby cider, which is produced in Kitchener, Ont.
“Farmers’ markets in Toronto have been synonymous with bringing the community, both near and far, together,” says John Porter, managing director of Carlsberg Canada. “And, in such an unprecedented time, we believe that our new normal has compelled us to recreate the experience in such a way that is safe for both our partners and the consumer,” adds Porter. “We are proud to support local in all facets of our brand – including, now using local ingredients and 100 per cent Canadian apples in our own ciders.”
Users can order 100 per cent Ontario local produce bags, register a pickup time and collect their bag at a designated location with minimal interaction.
All produce is being sourced by Veggies Delivered, an online grocer that specializes in fresh produce packages and delivers to consumers’ doorsteps.
Somersby says that 100 per cent of all proceeds from the market will be donated to The Stop Community Food Centre.
