Three Metro veterans announce retirement

Three long-time employees of Metro Inc.’s Ontario division have announced their retirements:

Domenic Calce, vice-president, Grocery & HBC Merchandising, Metro, will retire on June 1 after 40 years with the company. Calce began his career with Miracle Food Mart in 1977 working part time while attending school. After graduating from York University with a B.A. in Economics, Calce progressed through several senior positions. Among his many responsibilities while at the organization, Calce headed merchandising as well as procurement and corporate brands teams.

Richard Currie, vice-president, operations, Food Basics East, is retiring on May 19 after 39 years with the company. Currie joined A&P Canada in 1978, and progressed through the positions of dairy, produce and grocery department manager and has become an integral part of the Food Basics banner.

Phil Terry, vice-president, operations, Metro East, will retire on June 2 after 45 years with the company. Terry joined A&P Canada as a part-time store employee in 1972, and progressed over time through the retail operations including as manager in many of the company’s stores in the Toronto area.
