Unifor has applied to the Ontario Labour Relations Board to represent workers at a Walmart warehouse in Mississauga, Ont.

The union’s application is now under review. If the Labour Board determines that a vote is necessary, it will be conducted if Unifor’s submitted cards represent at least 40 per cent of the eligible workforce.

Unifor’s campaign to organize the Walmart workers began in December 2023. The union represents 315,000 workers across Canada.

Lana Payne, Unifor’s national president, says that workers at Walmart deserve better job security, health and safety protections and fair wages.
