Walmart debuted the new look of one of its Ontario stores located in Mississauga at Dixie Road in November. The chain invested $7 million in renovations to update the 156,000 sq ft store, which also features Walmart’s largest home delivery store in the Greater Toronto Area. The renovation is part of an earlier announcement in March 2021 of a $500 million-plus store modernization investment that Walmart is making in its store network.
At the time of the announcement in March, Horacio Barbeito, president and CEO of Walmart Canad, said Walmart is “on a mission to modernize all aspects of our business and that includes our stores. Investing in our stores is a major priority. In many cases, our stores are pillars in the community and we want them at their best - especially as we serve our customers in more omnichannel ways.”
Walmart says the store investments are building its planned $3.5 billion investment over the next five years to make the online and in-store shopping experience simpler, faster, and more convenient for customers.
