Shoppers were so excited about the opening of a new Real Canadian Superstore in Regina, they started lining up at 5 a.m. before the grand opening.
At 92,000 square feet, the store is twice as large as the old Extra grocery store next door, according to a Global News report.
We had well over 200 people lined up, and I was able to greet most of them before we opened,” according to store manager Keith Knoblauch, who says the new store serves a need in the growing area.
Over the last five years, Regina has outpaced the National Growth Rate – increasing by almost 12 per cent since 2011.
The store is part of a $30 million redevelopment of the aging Golden Mile Shopping Centre and will compete with five other major grocery chains located within four kilometres of each other.
