Pablo Zuanic, a senior equity analyst at SIG, New York, says that Kraft Heinz may be considering PepsiCo as a takeover target.
Unilever recently declined a merger offer with Kraft Heinz, which means that “if [Kraft Heinz] still wants to do a deal, Mondelez International and PepsiCo are the next logical partners,” Zuanic says.
Zuanic believes that PepsiCo is a more vulnerable takeover target because it is “still struggling to set a new direction.” He also comments that there is a “greater strategic fit” for Kraft Heinz with PepsiCo’s food and snacks business than there is with Mondelez.
