Farm Boy’s new Lake Shore and Leslie store.
Local fresh food retailer Farm Boy has opened a new location – its 28th – in Toronto’s east end.
The new 20,038 square foot fresh market is at Leslie Street and Lake Shore Boulevard and includes a fast-casual restaurant with a 36-foot fresh salad and hot bar, fresh sushi and flatbread pizza and oven roasts cut to order. Prepared meals are also available for pickup or can be eaten on site in the market’s Wi-Fi enabled eating area.
Products on offer include more than 400 varieties of local farmstead, Canadian and international cheeses, more than 15 fresh soups, eco-friendly, sustainable fresh seafood, farm fresh produce with organic and local in season, and hundreds of Ontario fresh dairy, meat and grocery products.
Roasted chicken pickup is positioned by the cashier area for an additional “grab and go” meal option for shoppers. Signage throughout the store highlights information about products, ingredients and sourcing.
In Grocery Business’s coverage of the opening of Farm Boy’s first Toronto-area store last year – in Etobicoke – co-CEO Jeff York said the opening was part of Farm Boy’s three-year plan to open a total of 12 Ontario stores.
Grocery Business also published a cover story on Farm Boy in August 2017. In the article, York told Grocery Business that Farm Boy planned to triple its presence in the GTA in the next three years, and predicted that within the next five years Ontario could see 50 Farm Boy stores.
